Housing
EHV- Emergency Housing Vouchers
This program is available through this American Rescue Plan Act.
We have been issued a limited total of (5) vouchers
The vouchers are designed to assist individuals and families who are:
Homeless (having no permanent night time residence)
At risk of homelessness
Fleeing, or attempting to flee domestic violence, dating violence sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking.
Recently homeless or have a high risk of housing instability.
FSS-Family Self-Sufficiency
This program allows Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, and Section 8 Project-Based particpating families develop strategies to obtain employment that will enable them to achieve economic independence.
RAD Multi-Family
Provides housing to families with income below 80% of local area median income.
Currently have 478 units under the RAD Program.
Available unit sizes are 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 bedroom.
Most Residents pay their own utilities.
Rent is approximately 30% of family income.
Units are located in Americus, Andersonville, Leslie, and Plains.
Section 8 Vouchers
Provides housing to families with income below 50% of local area median income.
Currently have 716 vouchers subject to funding restrictions.
Voucher holders get to choose their home subject to inspection requirements and rent reasonableness.
The voucher holder has to find the home and complete the necessary paperwork to get the unit on the program. The owner must also complete the necessary paperwork to get the unit on the program.
Rent is approximately 30% of family income.
The unit could be located anywhere in Sumter County or the family could "Port-Out" to other locations with HAA approval and acceptance by the receiving PHA.
Non-HUD/Locally Owned
Provides housing to families of all incomes.
Market rate rental not based on family income.
Accept Section 8.
Available unit sizes are 1, 2, & 3 bedroom units.
Current have 206 units.
Provides a lower than normal market rental rate in order to provide assistance to the working poor and other families that are unable to afford standard rental units.
All units are located in the City of Americus.
